Hugh and Patricia Shearer grew up in New Kensington where they became high school sweethearts & married in 1957. Hugh always wanted to be a farmer and the moved to the farm in 1967 with two young girl’s ages 5 & 3. He later discovered that his farm was a part of a larger tract of land his ancestors owned & his grandparents owned the farm next door. Hugh was a dairy farmer and also raised chickens, pigs, horses and many cats and dogs over the years. Ge farmed until the early 90’s and the began to drive school bus van until he was 72. Patricia loved antiques & would scour the country side for unique items. She refinished and restored many of the antiques in the home. Her collection grew and she began a furniture stripping business and started to selling antiques in co-ops & ran several of her own shops. The last shop she ran was Forget Me Not Antiques in Saxonburg. She also worked at Dynamic Ceramics for 18 years until she retired at 70 years old.Â
